We would like to inform members of the legal community and the public of upcoming section assignment changes within the 19th Judicial District Court. These changes will take effect in August 2025 and involve the reassignment of both civil and criminal dockets.
Effective August 1, 2025:
Judge William "Will" Jorden will assume the civil docket for Section 25.
Judge Jorden's current civil docket for Section 32 will no longer receive newly allotted cases.
Pro tem Judge Bonnie Jackson, appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court, will temporarily preside over Judge Jorden's current criminal docket for Section VI until the seat is permanently filled.
Effective August 11, 2025:
Judge Eboni Johnson Rose will assume the civil docket for Section 24.
Her current civil docket for Section 33 will no longer receive newly allotted cases.
Chief Judge Don Johnson will take over the criminal docket for Section IV.
Important Location Updates:
Chief Judge Johnson will continue to work from his current chambers on the 8th floor, Suite 8401, but will hold court for Section IV in Courtroom 9B.
Judge Johnson Rose will remain in her chambers on the 9th floor, Suite 9401, and will conduct court for both Sections 24 and 33 in Courtroom 8B.
Judge Bonnie Jackson will work from her chambers located on the 7th floor, Suite 7201 and will hold court in Courtroom 7C.
